Dear Santa & Crew,
RE: Santa & Crew Etiquette for this year’s visit
First of all, Merry Christmas! I know you’ve been racing around prepping for the big night. The number of chimneys you visit is a magical feat, for sure! It’s been a whole year since your last visit, and I’ve had some time to reflect on some ways we can improve this year. So, I hope you will keep these rules in mind so that Christmas can go off without a hitch:
Suggestion Rule No. 1 – Sleigh parking is to be in designated areas only. Even though it is not so green and lush now, we want to give our grass a fighting chance in the spring. Therefore, absolutely no reindeer are allowed to prance all over the lawn. Also, please note that roof parking requires a roof parking permit and must be applied for within 48 hours of arrival. The driveway is the preferred sleigh parking area.
Rule No. 2 – Make an appointment. Don’t get me wrong, but I think that if you scheduled appointments for all your stops, you may be able to get it done more efficiently. It would be very convenient if we could schedule our desired timeframe for your visit…maybe you have some sort of app that we can track status on? We are pretty flexible, but don’t give us the “sometime between 10pm and 4am” song and dance.
Rule No. 3 – Leave your boots at the door. Those boots will be getting a world tour and will probably have who knows what on them. So, let’s just plan to take them off when you step inside.
Rule No. 4 – Mind the pets. They don’t bite (often), but they might if you step on them. Also, make sure that you don’t set them off to barking once you arrive. I’m sure you have a plan of operation for fur kids (maybe a bag of treats), but just wanted to remind you.
Rule No. 5 – Liability and Indemnification. I know this is awkward, but our “Santa coverage” is a bit lacking this year. You must sign a Liability and Indemnification waiver, in the event you injure yourself or something. I’ll leave it next to the cookies. Be sure and initial the bottom of pages 1-12 and sign on page 13. I hope you understand.
Rule No. 6 – Completely ignore all the previous suggestions. There are too many rules in this world and Christmas is the time to unleash your inner child and remember the true reason for the season. So, make yourself at home without signing any paperwork, park wherever you want and visit whenever you can. We’ll have some piping hot cookies ready for you.
Sincerely,
Lisa Priest
