Sizzlin’ Hot 2015 Home Trends {pic heavy}
It’s a new year and that means new trends! Styles always shift and it’s hard to stay on top of what is “hot” and what is “not,” but have no fear, I’m here to help! I love watching how the home design trends are going, especially seeing what is going on in pinterest/internet land vs. what people are REALLY doing in their homes. It’s an interesting mix, for sure.
Painted Cabinets vs. Unpainted / Stained Oak Cabinets in the Kitchen
When it comes to kitchen trends, white is still HOT! It’s a clean look that makes any space feel much larger. The trend is turning towards adding in subtle (or not so subtle) hues of grey to mix up the all-white look.

Grey is the “It” color!
Along the same lines as the kitchen we saw above, grey is popping up in design eye-candy everywhere! It’s THE go-to neutral for 2015 and you can see why here:
This color is GORGEOUS! (and you can get it at Lowe’s or Bralys! The color is Valspar’s Magic Spell) What an inviting entryway by Jenna Sue. I will definitely be using this color SOON!
If you like a little more color in your neutrals, even the darker greys somehow pull off as a neutral. This color is also by Valspar and called “Sienne.” The dark color is contrasted with the crisp white trim and looks lovely! Image: Veronika’s Blushing

If it’s hot, it’s Copper!
Everyone loves metallics. They can be overkill if used too strongly, but used sparingly, copper can be a really hot look! Check out these pops of copper:
This copper farmhouse sink is certainly a showstopper! (It’s very pricey though, but I bet there is a cheaper alternative somewhere.) What a cool look, though. Can you imagine the patina as it ages? Love! Sinks by Native Trails

There’s a hot new appliance color in town!
Stainless steel has been hot for years, but I think the new “slate” appliances are going to start winning people over. The matte-finish type must be easier to clean, at least! I expect to start seeing these in homes soon, however, they just came out. What do you think? Do you like it? I will like it much more if little finger prints don’t stay all over it, that’s for sure! 😉

Prefab Mirrors Are OUT! Framed Mirrors are very in!
This style has also been around for awhile, but I expect to see more of it in 2015. This is an easy way to ditch the “pre-fab” look and get a more custom style. It’s also very economical! Loving this trend!

Accent Walls With Texture Instead of Just Color!
Accent walls are great, but textured accent walls are better! There are so many great ideas that can be used. Some of the best results come from the most unusual materials and ideas!

No textured wall conversation would be complete without the style that pinterest made famous–the wood pallet wall (have also seen using shiplap). Very cool look and have seen it many different ways. Definitely cheap, as you can often get the pallets for free. Image via Hometalk
