Everyone has things that they love and want in a house, and moms are no different. Moms are often a driving force in home selection, so you can imagine that a Mom’s wish list will fall fairly close in line with trending home features at any given time. Moms tend to think about the needs of the entire family, daily life and the practicality of the space. There are several house features that will make just about any Mom go gaga. Some popular things that top the list are features such as private bathrooms, split floor plans and an open concept—and all for good reason. However, some things don’t always make the “must have” list, but they may just become the cherry on top. Check out these top “mom faves:”
- PRACTICALITY – Some home features may not be things that are heavily advertised, but can make a big impact in daily life. For instance, kitchen drawers and customized storage options are something any home buyer would be excited about! Mud rooms are great for organizing daily gear and a “drop zone” for all the clutter that never seems to have a home. Let’s be real, whether it’s for mom or not…everyone loves some good organizational space.
- KID SPACE – Of course, the master bedroom is important (bonus points if it’s on the other side of the house). However, so are kids rooms and play spaces. Room for the kids to play outside in a great backyard is a great plus for any Mom. Play rooms are another popular Mom wish list item so the kids have a space to play and the toys have a place to go without messing up the living room.
- DREAM LIST ITEMS – Some home features may not be the most practical, but Moms sure would love to have them in their dream house anyway! A central vacuum system, heated floors and a laundry shoot aimed straight for the laundry room would certainly put a smile on the face of most Moms I know. As long as we are talking dream houses…wouldn’t it be great if there was a self-cleaning kitchen and a chore robot? (Hey, maybe one day—we can dream!)
Just like houses, Moms come in all styles and flavors and each one is glue for her family. No matter how many upgrades or how gorgeous that tile floor is, there is one feature that transcends it all for any Mom. It’s something that can’t be bought and it is the most priceless piece of any house—it’s the family inside it that truly makes it into a home.
