Who else is in shock that tomorrow is October?! I can’t believe it! It will soon be time to hear Christmas tunes while shopping at the grocery store! However, before the real cold weather hits, the next month is a great time to get a jump (or to catch up! lol!) on some home upkeep.
So, without further ado, I present 7 Tips for October Home Maintenance in East Texas:
I don’t know about you, but I am feeling “fallish!” I am normally a summer lover and start getting sad that the dog days of summer are behind us and the cold weather is coming. However, this year, I am looking forward to fall. There are several cool events coming up in October that will definitely get you in the fall spirit!

We all know about Spring Cleaning, but there are several things that need to be done in the fall months to prepare your Palestine, Texas home for the winter months! Luckily in Texas, we do not have to deal with basements and some other cold weather home issues that our Yankee neighbors have to face. However, there are some things that need to be addressed to prevent more expensive issues later on. Preventative maintenance=Cheaper Maintenance! (and who doesn’t love cheaper!?)
Let me preface this by saying, I am a pet lover. I have a dog and a cat. However, my dog likes to stick his nose up people’s behinds and my cat is prone to biting men unprovoked and running out any open exterior door like a psycho flash of lightning. My pets are great, but they have some eccentricities and not everyone loves them like I do, so I am sure to put them up when I have visitors. I always stress to my sellers the importance of “pet maintenance” during the time their home is offered for sale. Pets are not everyone’s cup of tea, some folks have pet hair allergies or are just not into them at all. That is their prerogative. However, what you do want them to be into is your home becoming theirs! So, make it easier for yourself (long-term, anyway) and do some preventative “pet maintenance” before each showing so you can sell your home quickly and for top dollar!
